हाम्रो बारे

मगर आदिवासी नेपालको सबैभन्दा ठूलो जनसंख्या भएको आदिवासी जनजाति हो। मगरहरू मेहनती, ईमान्दारिता र वीरताको लागि सुपरिचित छन्। मगर समुदायको झ्याउँरे र लोक दोहोरी जस्ता लोकपद्दती र लोक साँस्कृतिक प्रचलनहरू अहिले नेपाली संस्कृति र पहिचानको एक अभिन्न अंग बनिसकोको छ।

मगर संघ अमेरिकाको स्थापना मगर समुदायको संस्कृति, परम्पराको संरक्षण गर्न र आफ्नो अमेरिकी सपना साकार पार्न अमेरिका बसाई सरेका मगरहरू साथै उनीहरूको अमेरिकामै जन्मिएका दरसन्तानहरू जो बिभिन्न विधामा सफलता हाँसिल गरिरहेकाछन्, को सेवा र एकताको लागि भएको हो।

मगर संघ अमेरिकाको स्थापना एक मुनाफा रहित, गैरराजनीतिक, सेवाप्रदायक, मानवीय र सामाजिक संस्थाको रूपमा ‘लांघाली संघ अमेरिका’ को नाममा अमेरिकाको न्यू योर्क सहरमा सन् २००४ साल मार्च २८ तारिख भएको हो। संघको औपचारिक दर्ता सन् २००४ को अगष्ट ३० मा गरिएको हो। मगर भाषामा ‘लांघाली’ को अर्थ ‘गाउँले’ हुन्छ। सन् २०१० को अक्टोवर २४ तारिख न्यू जर्सीको मेस ल्याण्डिंगमा सम्पन्न संघको चौंथो राष्ट्रिय महाधिवेशनबाट संघको नाम परिवर्तन गरी ‘मगर संघ अमेरिका’ नामाकरण गरिएको हो।

संघको प्रमुख उद्देश्यहरू निम्नानुसार छन्ः

-अमेरिकामा बसोबास गर्ने मगरहरू बिच एकता, समन्वय र सहकार्य गर्ने।

-मगर आदिवासीको भाषा र साँस्कृतिक संपदाको संरक्षण र प्रवर्धन गर्ने।

-नेपालका आदिवासी मगर समुदायमा आई पर्ने प्राकृतिक र मानवीय आपतविपदमा सहयोग गर्ने।

-नेपालको समकक्षी सामाजिक संस्था ‘नेपाल मगर संघ’ लगायतसंग सहकार्य गरी विभिन्न जनउपयोगी परियोजनाहरू जस्तो कि बिपन्न परिवारका महिला, बालबालिकाहरूको शिक्षादिक्षा र दुरदराजका मगर समुदायका गाउँहरूमा स्वास्थ्य सेवा प्रदान गर्ने।

-अमेरिकाको नेपाली अमेरिकी समुदायको संघसंस्थाहरूसंग परस्पर सम्बन्ध र सहकार्यको विस्तार गर्ने।

मगर संघ अमेरिकाले स्थापना कालदेखिनै बिभिन्न सामाजिक र साँस्कृतिक गतिविधिहरू संचालन गर्दै आएकोछ। साथै, वार्षिकरूपमा आर्थिक संकलन, बनभोज, विविध सामाजिक भेला र मगर समुदायको परम्परागत चाडपर्वहरू माघे संक्रान्ति, भुमे पूजा लगायत मनाउँदै आएकोछ। यसका साथै, संघले नेपाली अमेरिकी समुदाय र अन्य सामाजिक संघसंस्थाहरूसंग सकृयरूपमा सहकार्य गरी बिभिन्न सामाजिक कार्यहरू गर्दै आएकोछ।

मगर संघ अमेरिका संघको केन्द्र र शाखाहरूसंग समन्वय र सहकार्य गरी आफ्नो लक्ष र परियोजनाहरू सम्पन्न गर्न सकिने कुरामा विश्वास राख्दछ। मगर समुदायको सेवामा समर्पित गर्न संघ प्रतिबद्ध र सक्षम छ। उज्जवल भविष्यको निम्ति एक्यवद्धता जाहेर गरौं।

About US

Magar indigenous peoples are largest ethnic group in Nepal. Magars are well-known as hardworking, honest and brave people. Their folklore and cultural phenomena such as jhyaure, dohori folk songs are now integral part of Nepali culture and identity.

Magar Association USA, Inc. is established to preserve the Magar culture, tradition and to serve and unification of the Magars who migrated to the United States to pursue their dreams and their children who are born here and, now, excelling in many fields of their choosen careers.

Magar Association USA, Inc. was formerly called ‘Langhali Association USA, Inc.’ which was established in New York City on March 28, 2004 as a non-profitable, non-political, charitable, humanitarian and social organization. It has been officially registered in the state of New York on August 30, 2004. ‘Langhali’ means village dwellers in Magar language. The Association officially changed its name to ‘Magar Association USA, Inc.’ during its fourth general convention which was held in Mays Landing, New Jersey on October 24, 2010.

The primary objectives of the Association are as following:

-To maintain unification,  co-ordination and cooperation among the Magars living in The United States of America;

-To work for the preservation and promotion of linguistic and cultural heritage among the Magars;

-To make charitable contributions to assist indigenous Magars of Nepal during natural disasters and humanitarian emergencies;

-To work with its counterpart social organization in Nepal, such as Nepal Magar Association and co- finance deserving projects including education for women, girls and boys from poor families and health care for remote Magar villages etc.

-To establish broader mutual relationship and cooperation with other Nepali social organizations in the United States.

Magar Association USA, Inc. has been organizing various social, cultural activities throughout the years of its existence as well as annual programs such as fundraisings, picnics, various social gatherings and observation of Magar traditional festivals such as Maghe Sankranti, Bhume Puja etc. It has also been actively participating and co-hosting many social events in collaboration with other Nepali American communities and social organizations.

Magar Association USA, Inc. believes in cooperation and collaboration within its central and chapter committees to further its mission and objectives. The Association is fully committed and, now, best positioned ever to serve our community. For brighter future, let’s be united.
